THE INSTALLATION PROCESS

Overview of Installation

In this 4 part series from DeckRite LLC, you will see instructions aided by demonstrations on installing the DeckRite vinyl membrane over a wooden surface. The first video is the Surface Prep, followed by the Pre-Install. After these two videos, you will see the third video titled Membrane Installation, and finally, the Hot Air Welding video, which will guide you through the process of seam welding. Each video has a more detailed description of what is included in the video.

Prepping The Surface

In this video, you will learn about preparing the wood surface for the install of the DeckRite vinyl membrane. It covers putting a compound over joints and knotholes, sanding, and cleaning the surface to get the best adhesion possible. This step is essential because it is the bond between the membrane and the wood surface below. In the following video of the series, Pre-Install, you will learn some great tips that will help you in the install process.

Pre-Install Process

In this video, you will learn about installing the metal drip-edge in preparation for the membrane. You will also see the necessary steps for removing any siding so that you can run the membrane up the vertical portion of the wall. In the next video of the series, Membrane Installation, you will learn how to layout the membrane before applying the adhesive to make the process as easy as possible. In the next video, Membrane Install, you will see the process of making trim cuts, applying adhesive and seam information.

Installing The Membrane

In this video, you will learn about welding seams with a hot air welder. It is not a complicated process, but it is one that needs attention to detail. You will see the settings of the hot air welder and detailed instructions along with video of the process of welding the DeckRite vinyl membrane. When finished, if done correctly, this will create a waterproof seam for your deck. Creating a waterproof seam helps protect your wood surface underneath and adds years to the life of your deck.
